The features we add to default factory configurations are typically:

• Enhanced administrator security, adding your administrators and removing/protecting the built-in
• Banners and messages - configured to show that only certain people are allowed in
• Configure SSH and HTTPS administration securely
• Removing insecure administration methods
• Configure time zone, date and time - preferably using NTP
• Clustering implemented and tested before delivery
• Basic IPv4 and IPv6 configuration prepared, including switching and bridging as necessary
• Routing added as required, including BGP and OSPF routing if needed
• Basic firewall policies and services added, to make it easy to expand to more services
• Syslogging prepared and easy to change
• SNMP prepared and easy to change
