Solido Networks use a lot of Open Source as part of our business critical infrastructure - which is why we sponsor a lot of associations and software developers.
This page is meant as a suggestion for others to support open source.
Who have we supported with money/gifts
Below you will find a list over some of the sponsorships that we donate to.
OpenBSD
We use OpenBSD as one of the primary operating system on critical infrastructure servers, we try to give a donation regularly at each release.
OpenBSD develops a lot of relevant software components like PF, OpenBGPD and of course OpenSSH. OpenSSH alone is used in more than 100 distributions of UNIX-ilke operating systems.
How much do we donate? Usually we give about EUR 100 and buy t-shirt and CD. Plus specific donations to various projects like buying a new server or other hardware for sub systems on OpenBSD.
OWASP
Solido Networks support OWASP and have paid $500 to this project in July 2007.
Linuxforum - Open Source Days
Solido Networks support Open Source Days conference in Copenhagen.
EuroBSDCon
We supported EuroBSDCon 2007 which was in Copenhagen - we donated 15.000 DKK.
BackTrack (Auditor Security Collection)
We have previously supported Auditor Security Collection with a Soekris which was listed on the wish list for the developers. From time to time we send some donation money to BackTrack and promote the project in various ways like handing out 100 copies nicely packaged at Linuxforum 2007.
Currently we both donate money from time to time and support the project by spreading the word and copies of the software.
Memberships
Apart from the donations we support associations as members:
LOPSA The League of Professional System Administrators
(ISC)2 - CISSP certificering kontingent og frivilligt arbejde som proctor/supervisor
USENIX medlemsskab
DK-TUG danish TeX user group
ISSA Information Systems Security Association
ISOC Internet Society
itpol.dk IT-Politisk Forening
Who can ask for a donation
We only support open source and IT-related projects. If you want to ask for a donation contact Henrik Kramshøj and explain why we should donate. Do not expect us to be able to support!
